A big part of what we do here at Apex is helping people to love their own skin. Sometimes that requires tackling medical conditions like acne or psoriasis and helping them get clear, but often it’s simply addressing things that bother them, that they’d like to improve.Â
That’s where our talented aesthetics team comes in.Â
We have Jess Larkin, Aesthetic Nurse in Westlake, walking us through our best products and services to help transform your skin this holiday season.
Products to Help you Love Your Skin
We see it often: patients come in unhappy with their skin only to tell us that they’ve been using the same products for years and years. Did you know that our skin changes over time and what used to work may be leaving your skin worse off? Or another common problem is people doing their best to navigate the skin care product market, and simply making the wrong choices about what’s best for their unique needs.
This holiday season, we have some specials for you to update your skin regimen with products that work for where you are now!
How do you customize a product regimen for a patient?
Creating a regimen is more than just purchasing the trendiest products. There are few things we want every patient to be using products for: cleansing, toning, and exfoliating.
What products you use to achieve these steps can vary depending on a variety of things. The condition of your skin: dry or oily. The sensitivity of your skin and what other products you are using that also exfoliate the skin.
What you are hoping to prevent or correct is important when determining what products are best for you as well as what prescriptions you are currently using for your current skin conditions.Â
Another very important thing to consider is your commitment level, and where you are starting.Â
Are there some products that are good for everyone to use?
A powerful part of your skincare routine is exfoliating the skin. Using a product once to twice a week like the ZO exfoliating polish is an easy way to consistently exfoliate the skin. Â
The best anti-aging product that helps increase cell turnover is the Apex Retinol. One of the great things about our Apex Retinol is that we have the option to start patients that have never used retinol or have sensitive skin on the Apex Retinol x3 if needed and work up to the Apex Retinol x5. Then we have the Apex Retinol x10 for more experienced retinol users. This allows for patients to have a product that they are comfortable with using and avoid starting a product that the patient is not going to be consistent with. We do know that there is an anticipated reaction when starting retinol and that is something that we can discuss in detail during a consultation.Â
Also, Apex Sheer Sun Shield is a must for everyone of any age with any skin condition (yes, even in the winter)!Â
Skin Services To Advance Your Results
Your products alone can only do so much. When it comes to truly transforming your skin, services are necessary. Whether you want to get a simple dewy glow or are looking for something to make big changes like reducing fine lines, wrinkles, or even scarring, look no further!Â
How do you figure out which treatment will be best for you?
How healthy your skin is and knowing what you’re hoping to achieve is very important when determining what treatment is best for you. Reviewing what products and prescriptions you are currently using along with your skin health history is important to review first, that’s why we always recommend a skin consultation to start.
It is also important to discuss what your lifestyle is and how you feel about having obvious signs of a treatment.Â
Examples: do you have skin peeling or redness? I also like to discuss if you are preparing for a special event and/or what has you interested in starting treatments at this time.Â
Knowing what motivates the patient and what type of lifestyle they have can be valuable information to help make recommendations that best fit the patient.Â
What are some of the most effective treatments you have?
Microneedling is a treatment that is used to improve overall texture and appearance of the skin and is very popular because it provides lasting results with minimal downtime.
Microneedling treatments are relatively pain free. The process tricks the body into producing more collagen to help restore volume and can improve fine lines, wrinkles, and is also able to help improve scarring. Â
Microneedling is also my personal favorite–I never miss a treatment!
What are some of the most popular treatments you have?
The Diamond Glow is an in-office treatment that can provide a wonderful exfoliation to the superficial skin leaving it instantly glowing.Â
It’s suitable for all skin types and has no downtime, which makes it very popular!
Now is the perfect time to try a new regimen with our products or add to your already effective one with skin services that will take your results to the next level. Schedule an appointment with us to learn more about your holiday savings!
