Fifteen years after opening its doors, Apex Skin is celebrating a milestone that reflects both the evolution of the practice and the growing demand for high-quality dermatology services throughout Northeast Ohio.
Founded in 2011 by board-certified dermatologist and former U.S. Navy flight surgeon Jorge Garcia-Zuazaga, MD, MBA, FAAD, FACMS, Apex Skin has grown into one of Northeast Ohio’s largest physician-owned dermatology practices. Today, the organization includes 16 locations, more than 320 employees, and a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers delivering medical and surgical dermatology, skin cancer treatment, aesthetic dermatology, and research-based dermatologic care.
Expanding Access to Dermatology Care
The anniversary also marks the next chapter of the practice’s continued expansion. This summer, Apex Skin opened a new location in Alliance, Ohio, located within the Professional Office Building at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital. The new office will further expand access to specialty dermatology care for patients in Stark County and surrounding communities.
Apex Skin’s continued growth has brought medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care closer to more patients and communities throughout Northeast Ohio.

15 Years of Growth and Patient Care
Since its founding, Apex Skin has cared for more than 1 million patients and treated over 100,000 skin cancers while continuing to invest in advanced technology, clinical research, physician recruitment, and expanded patient services. The practice continues to earn regional and national recognition for both clinical excellence and business growth.
Throughout that growth, Apex Skin has remained focused on access to high-quality dermatologic care while continuing to grow its services, technology, and team.
Supporting the Communities Apex Skin Serves
Beyond patient care, Apex Skin has become known for its commitment to the communities it serves. Apex Skin provides complimentary skin cancer screenings, supports melanoma awareness initiatives, and recently expanded its Purple Heart Project, founded by Dr. Garcia to combine his passions for dermatology and military service.
The program now offers complimentary scar revision treatments, free skin spot checks, priority scheduling, preferred pricing on aesthetic services, and employment opportunities for veterans.
